Difference Between A-Levels and International Baccalaureate (IB)

The difference between IB and A-levels can be divided based on the following:

a) Subject Taken - IB has a fixed set of subjects you have to take, whether you like it or not. A-Levels on the other hand allows you to choose the subjects and also the number of subjects.

b) Exams - If you take IB, you need to finish course of all the subjects and sit for the exams at the end of the semester. A-Levels on the other hand follows the modular system where you can take the exams based on modules.

c) Recognition - IB is said to be more respected as it is tougher compared to A-levels. With IB, you may have a greater chance of entering Ivy league universities and good employment as the IB graduates are said to be more all rounded.

Whether it is IB or A-Levels, it all depends on you. Our advice : If you are looking at a specific undergraduate degree course, you may want to consider A-Levels as it allows you to choose subjects which can help in you undergraduate degree later. However, if you are an academic person who has done well in all subjects in school, you should go for IB.
